NYS DEPLOYS 4 FEMALE CORPS MEMBERS TO ACC

As a step to empowering young people more especially females, the Director of Recruitment, Training and Programmes of the National Youth Service (NYS), Sylvester Bewei, has on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at the ACC Headquarters on behalf of the Executive Director of NYS, Mohamed Onanah Jalloh handed over four female Corps members to the Anti-Corruption Commissioner, Francis Ben Kaifala for a year in fulfilment of the deployment process for 2021. The ACC Chief, who is also an honorary member of the Third Batch of the National Youth Service Corps wholeheartedly welcomed his compatriots and briefly explained to them the core values and the modus operandi of the Anti Corruption Commission. Francis Ben Kaifala whose callup number at NYS is BOM,20,524,1,3, encouraged the designated Corps members to feel free to work with him as he operates an open door policy. Commissioner Kaifala urged the service members to make use of the opportunity accorded them by the Government of Sierra Leone through NYS. One of the deployed Corps members at the ACC, N’jainatu Infa Sesay, speaking on behalf of her squad members regimentally registered her heartfelt gratitude to the Anti Corruption Commission for allowing them to work with them. I am humbled, I am one person that feels proud today for being deployed to work with the ACC and I am going to assure them of our full commitment while working here at the ACC, N’jainatu said. She also extended her gratitude to the National Youth Service for the opportunity given to them to serve the nation and for their deployment at the enviable Anti Corruption Commission. Madam Sesay also encouraged every Sierra Leonean youth more especially graduates to step up, apply for next NYS recruitment and to volunteer to serve the nation. She, therefore, called on every Sierra Leonean to embrace the Corps members and support President Julius Maada Bio to lessening youth unemployment in the country. In another development, Director Bewie and his team also deployed another set of forty Corps members at the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA). Explaining how National Youth Service came about, Director Bewie said the NYS act was enacted in 2016 but started operations in 2018 when they enlisted 200 Universities graduates into the scheme. He said they have successfully enlisted, trained and deployed three batches of Corps members at various MDAs and other private entities. Am calling on you the Corps members to be professional, hardworking, committed and dedicated to the assignments that would be assigned to you, he cautioned them. On her part, the Commissioner of NaCSA, Madam Hannah Sao Kapto Max Kyne, wholeheartedly welcomed NYS team and the Corps members. She applauded the Bio led administration for operationalizing the NYS scheme, stating that the scheme will allow young graduates and also help cushion youth unemployment in the country. ninety five percent of you will be sent to the provinces to implement our various projects. Am encouraging you to be steadfast, hardworking and committed as hard work pays a lot, she concluded.
