Led by Sierra Leone’s Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs, Hon. Lusine Kallon, the National Youth Service (NYS) delegation travelled to Kenya on a study tour in preparedness of the review of the 2016 NYS Act. The team comprises the main opposition Member of Parliament, Hon. Abdul Kargbo-Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Youth Affairs, NYS Board Chairman Sahr Nyaama and the NYS Executive Director, Onanah Jalloh. After the study tour, the Ministry of Youth Affairs has championed the review of the current NYS Act by calling for a consultative dialogue with all relevant stakeholders in the country. The actual implementation only started in 2018 when His Excellency Rtd. Brigadier General Julius Maada Bio decided to kick-start the dream of the country’s first rime Minister, Sir Milton Margai.
