NYS Ends Deployment of 371 Graduates Corps In Sierra Leone ( JAN 2020)
The National Youth Service (NYS), supervised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, has ended the deployment of 371 Corps across the country in line with the New Direction administration's mandate to empower young graduates for the available job markets. The Executive Director, Onanah Jalloh, saluted the graduate corps for their gallantry to serve their country for a dedicated one year national service. According to the Executive Director, the current NYS structure cannot contend with the growing youth unemployment inherited by the Government and therefore affirmed the need for the 2016 NYS Act. "This year's recruitment has a national face as all the Districts and Chiefdoms were represented," he said, adding that the graduate corps will facilitate unity and integration as well as championing community development.
